Are you pregnant or thinking of having another baby and have had a previous C-section?
Then you are in the right place, we have some top tips to help to look after your scar and your body while pregnant.
Drink enough water!

Keeping yourself properly hydrated will help your C-section scar recovery in multiple ways. Dehydration can produce excess collagen production which then leads to thickened scars. Hydrating your body also supports the body’s natural healing process.
Eat Well!

Eating well during pregnancy is something that will support both you and your growing baby, ensuring you are having adequate protein intake is important as protein is essential for tissue repair. Make sure you are having enough fibre so that you are able to empty your bowels regularly without putting extra pressure on your pelvic floor. Adding things like chia seeds and flax seeds to your breakfast would be a great way to do this!
Using a silicone product.
Using a silicone product for your C-section scar is completely safe to use throughout your pregnancy and afterwards, it is even safe to use if you choose to breastfeed.
In clinic we always recommend using the Scarban C-section recovery kit.

Pelvic Floor Exercises
If you already do your pelvic floor exercise then great! Carry on, there is nothing to stop you doing them during pregnancy, they can help with bladder control, pelvic pain and help with recovery after your next birth.
Manual Scar Massage
Although when pregnant we would not advise to have scar therapy with a medical device, manual scar massage with a lovely non-fragrance oil or cream is perfect to engage with your scar and help loosen any tight scar tissue forming. We have lots of scar massage videos on our youtube channel.

Moisturise your bump
Moisturise you bump – you don’t need any specials creams or oils to do this, just keep it moisturised and together with proper hydration your skin is getting all it needs.
