What pessaries do to help prolapsed bladders or bowels:
Supports pelvic organ prolapse
Reduces symptoms & enhances comfort
Allows you to continue with everyday activities
Go back to doing the things you love
Pelvic organ prolapse can feel very uncomfortable and have an effect on your day-to-day life (both physically and emotionally). Although some people may opt for surgery, it’s not always the best option (and certainly not the first choice before Physiotherapy intervention). That’s why having a pessary fitted is such a great alternative. Once fitted, you will barely know it’s there! You'll be able to get on with your life as normal – including exercising and having intimate relationships– if that’s what you want to do.
If you are experiencing urine leaking, this can be common for some women (after childbirth, surgery or trauma to the pelvic floor), but it is not normal. Please do not “try and put up with it” as there is so much which can be done.
Please get in touch with us if you have any concerns. We have highly skilled Women's Health Physiotherapists who can assess your pelvic floor

What is a Pessary and how will it help?
A vaginal pessary is a safe and effective non-surgical treatment for pelvic organ prolapse. This discreet device, made of soft silicone or plastic, is inserted into the vagina to support weakened tissues and reduce symptoms like pelvic pressure, urinary incontinence, and bowel issues.

Having an initial assessment with our highly experienced women's health Physiotherapist (Leila), allows her to recommend the best pessary for you. Leila will consider your symptoms, and conduct an internal examination to assess which part of your pelvic floor is affected and which pessary will work best for your symptoms and for you!
